Ms. Bova's Class/Harvard 2020-2021-Kindergarten Assignments

We will be working on a writing assessment IN CLASS this week (possibly finish for HW). The final draft (sentences and picture) should be on the attached writing paper and submitted back through this assessment by Wednesday night, 11/18. Parents, please do not correct any spelling errors, mistakes or help your child.


You can dictate (write) what your child says they wrote after they are finished. Add that to the bottom of the writing.

Please complete the next 4 November journal entires this week. (Work on the entires this month in the order they are placed in the packet) Have your child finish the sentence and try to add one more sentence. Please be sure to use the rubric on the right hand side and have them sound out words they do not know how to spell or write.

This is an assessment that we'll start in class on Tuesday, 11/10. Please do not help your child with this or complete it ahead of time. They will finish it for HW on Tuesday and then submit it back through Google Classroom for a grade.

I will administer the quiz in class. DO NOT HELP YOUR CHILD OR GO OVER IT AHEAD OF TIME :) After we complete it in class, submit it back through Google Classroom by Friday 11/6 for a grade.

We celebrate Halloween at OPA with something called Literature Day.

Please look over the attached book report project and let me know if you have any questions. Your child will:
-pick out a book to read at home with family
-fill out the attached book report
-draw a picture of their favorite part of the book on the back of the report
-decorate the attached puppet of their favorite character of the book

Then on Friday, October 30th, we'll share our projects/puppets with the class as well as dress up as our favorite character from the book. We will all be virtual this day. The class will do some fun activities to celebrate reading and Halloween. I will be asking parents to volunteer to plan a fun activity (i.e. a scavenger hunt, etc.) or read a book to the class, so be on the lookout for that email coming soon :)

Part of Wednesday's HW is to read the mini-book a few times (pgs. 31/32) from the Your Turn workbook, then complete the writing assignment on page 30 of the workbook.

The directions are at the bottom of the page. Please have your child write (as best they can) for 4 minutes about what the friends in the story do. When done, upload a PDF or picture to this assignment by the end of the day Friday, 9/25. Your child will be graded on their effort.

Please complete these for HW (see our weekly schedule) and submit them back via this assignment by the end of the day Friday, 9/18. Feel free to send them as one PDF as well.

A few ways to do this: take a picture with your phone and save as a PDF, use a scanner, or use a free app called Genius Scan.

Please do not email them to me :) They need to come back through this assignment on Google Classroom.

Please print the attached 2 documents. We will complete these IN CLASS together this week (most likely on Tuesday and Thursday). PLEASE DO NOT HELP YOUR CHILD OR EDIT THEIR WORK. These assessments will help me see where their writing abilities are at. It is okay if they do not know all the letters or have a difficult time. They will not be graded on these. :)


After we complete the assessments, you will submit/upload them back to this assignment as a PDF. (Please do not email them to me) You can take a picture and save as a PDF on most iPhones. Or, I've used a free app called Genuis Scan that is easy to turn pictures into PDF's as well.
